- Downtown: Mostly businesses with some new high rise condo buildings. http://www.downtownhouston.org/
- River Oaks: “From Southern-styled mansions to contemporary compounds, Houston has some of the most lavish real estate in the nation. Start at the River Oaks Country Club and explore outwards. Inwood Drive and Lazy Lane are two posh streets nearby.”
- Friar Truck in Memorial: “Another neighborhood that will leave you seeing dollar signs.”

- Courtlandt Place: Historic.
- Old Sixth Ward: Historic.
- The Heights: With historic Victorian homes and tree-lined roads.
Montrose: This has been the bastion of the LGBT community, artists, hippies, punks, and various bohemian types for decades. - Midtown: Good spot for young professionals. http://www.houstonmidtown.com/

- West University/Rice Village: Has several restaurants and shops.
