This website is dedicated to information about things to see and do in Houston, Texas. It was prepared to encourage Houstonians (or transplants to Houston) to explore more of their city and to help visitors see what Houston has to offer. Houston is not known for its beauty; however, it does have several neat (and mostly free) things to see and do and it is our hope that people will enjoy those.
You probably knew that "Houston" was the first word out of Neil Armstrong's mouth from the moon, but did you know that more than 90 languages are spoken in Houston? Did you know that the total area of Houston can contain San Francisco, New York City, and Boston all at the same time? And, a little bit of history... Despite popular belief, Sam Houston did not found the city - it was founded by two real estate entrepreneurs (John and Augustus Allen) who named the city in honor of his military achievements. Houston remains the only major U.S. city without zoning ordinances.
The lack of tourist information is what inspired the author to prepare this website. Many people are moving to Houston and, when asked what to do or see, there is no one website you can send them to for suggestions. The intent of this website is to serve as that "one stop" website for all the things to see and do in the Bayou City.
Now, let's go out and explore!
